Memorial Day

Please take time to thank those who are serving to protect our citizens and freedoms. Honor fallen servicemen by thanking their families who suffer from their loss.
As we prepare for the barbecues and the yard sales, as we gather with family and friends, take a few moments to strengthen our cultural fabric by discussing the meaning of our Memorial Day celebrations.
As always, stay safe.

He wanted my gum
Perhaps from changes at Blogger or maybe failing memory on my part, for the life of me, I can not find the instructions on and/or functions of the way to make changes to this blog other than making a new post (like this one). When I figure out what to do, I'll make changes.
Besides being stagnant, this blog should should be promoting sponsors, and features of our fair city and community events should be noted more frequently. The blogs that I have been following are setting the standard, and this blog has fallen way behind.
There are plans are in the making for the content of this blog to liven it up. (Translation: I got a new camera!)
Here's a perfect example: I was at a stop light by the train station when this fellow watched me unwrap a piece of gum (see picture below the fold). He was very interested in the shiny wrapper, I think. We parted ways without him getting any of my gum.
At any rate, check back for changes. As always, suggestions welcome! Use the comment section for any feedback, input, opinions, etc.

Jackson Web
Way back in December 1996, some local boys convinced the City of Jackson and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce into funding the start of the Jackson Web project. The idea was that Jackson, Missouri, was community-oriented enough to support a presence on the Internet. Now, 14 years later, the Jackson Web still provides free web presence to local schools, churches, and non-profit organizations. Local business support makes it possible.
The Jackson Web main page lists the current supporters. December is the major renewal time for supporters, and many renewals have already been received. Please let our local businesses know how much you appreciate their participation in the Jackson Web project.
If you know of a local business that should be part of the Jackson Web project, please leave a comment to tell us. Thanks for visiting the Jackson Web.

The Holiday Tree
It is a community loss from which we all suffer since the red-lighted evergreen at the corner of PP and West Jackson Blvd.
Personally, I loved it most on Valentine's Day.
Please share your memories of the red-lighted holiday tree.
